Six Characters

There are 6 characters in my piece who each have their own identity. They are,

Teenager
Mother
Middle Aged 'Daddy's Girl'
Business Man
Business Woman
Homeless Person

They will all be dressed literally as if the audience are flys on the wall, looking in on a moment in everyday life.

There will be a complete contrast in movement and music at the beginning. The movement will be simple fast pedestrian walks with a contrasting slow pace, chilled out tempo in the music. This will be trialed tonight in a rehearsal and I will post a video of the result tomorrow.

Relax

My idea for this choreography came across when I realized the difference between London, and various other places in the UK. The frantic pedestrian movement seen in London is something everyone has to keep up with, whereas anywhere outside London has a slow, relaxed pace and feel.

Now living in London myself, when I return home I frequently find myself rushing around for no reason at all. Then seeing local people walking/wondering around without a care in the world makes me realise the difference in life style to London.

The aim of this piece is to highlight this feeling through dance.

Just Walk

So it has come to the time of year when I have to choreograph my 2nd year piece. This will be graded so people are starting to panic. I on the other hand have a talented boyfriend who has created a piece of music for me so everything is under control.. well it is for now! Check this out..

Introducing...

Hey, I'm new to this so get ready for ridiculous amounts of mistakes!

I am part of a community company set up by James Williams in Mid Wales a few years ago. He now studies dance at Laban School in London. The company is about getting local kids from a tiny village to have a go at performing some dance and stomp work. It has all been successful and the kids really enjoy it. It is harder now that James is studying in London, but whenever he is home he constantly trys to sort out another show for us all to perform in!

Here's the showreel from last year...
